To get at the hotel you have to drive on country roads going past vineyards which already put you in a holiday mood and it gets better when you suddenly see this beautiful castle at the horizon. You enter a long driveway where at the end is a large parking lot. You have to walk over a nostalgic stone bridge that goes over a canal with a few swans and ducks. Around the castle is also a large park but also the restaurant Le Orangerie.
The reception
In the main building is the reception. This is quite small. There are display cases with champagne of course you can buy them in the area but also jams and brandy. Fun, small and beautiful antique rugs and paintings on the walls. We were warmly welcomed and they showed us to our room. Then we got into the lounge and where offered a glass of pink champagne. A good reception.
The restaurant
In the building next to the castle is a large restaurant. A great entrance with marble tiles. Pure luxury with lots of velvet, tapestry and antiques. Beautifully set tables with well-ironed linens. The glasses sparkle. The restaurant can accommodate large parties. It is pure luxury and indulgence. We had a great dinner here with exquisite wines. I did not have to pay them, but I saw a three-course dinner will cost around 60 euro’s.
The dishes are served with each course different scales and plates. Every dish is beautifully. The dinner is delicious. We had as an tasting of several appetizers. After a delicious lamb fillet. And a tasting of sparkling ice and fruit for dessert.
The hotel room
I was lucky that I had a deluxe room in the castle itself was which has a total of 28 rooms.
It is an old castle from the 17th century. That turned out to be, because the lock of the door had some difficulties while opening it. But then you get into a hallway with a beautiful rug. Left is a very modern bathroom with bathtub and a shower room. Two white robes are folded nicely.
Toilet facilities are also plentiful. Delicious wellness shower gel and shampoo. But then you walk through a door to the bedroom. Before you see a bed with a canopy nostalgic. Entirely in the old style. The gray bedspread with red roses as a pattern is also reflected in the canopy. The windows in addition to the curtains, nostalgic wooden shutters. The room has a fireplace. An antique cabinet serves as a side table. The only disadvantage of this huge room, I found no TV was present but who needs a TV in this area.
Breakfast Room
In the large room of the castle is the breakfast room. Here is a cozy room, where you can spend your evening having a drink. Breakfast costs 14 euros per person and is perfect. It looks nicely groomed. Freshly made jams, scrambled eggs and bacon, as well as French cheeses. Naturally fresh croissants and baguettes. I thought it was delicious. Breakfast is served from 7 am to 9.30 pm.
Staff
I have only met friendly and helpful staff. The staff are all in a neat black / gray clothing. It always looks luxurious.
Disabled
There are disabled facilities such as parking and separate entrances. The restaurant and rooms are easily accessible and the hall and corridors are spacious enough. In the castle itself is no elevator but it does have in the Orangerie building where you also can stay.
Conclusion
It is purely a luxury hotel and restaurant. Prices are tough I saw but you must always pay for quality. And quality and luxury can be found here enough. And while you're in the area, then I suggest you to visit a Champagne house and get a few bottles to take home!
