Cayo Costa

If you ever wanted to know what it would be like to be on a deserted island, then you have to make the short trip to Cayo Costa.

Located a short distance from Cabbage Key, Terry, the dockmaster at Cabbage Key, will be glad to rent you a boat for the trip and give you directions. Don't worry about getting lost - each boat comes complete with a radio. The kitchen crew will also be glad to pack you a picnic lunch for your trip.

Locals say the island is even better for hunting shells than Sanibel Island. You will defintely find a lot less people on Cayo Costa. Terry says he has seen days when there might be just one couple on the entire island.

While the resort furnishes beach mats and umbrellas, it is up to you to supply the sunscreen - a very needed item on this sun drenched island.
