Wildwood Beach

The sand gets raked early each morning, so it is relatively clean. The beach is very wide, so there is plenty of room for Frisbee players AND sunbathers. Lifeguards are generously spread throughout the long stretch of shallow ocean, making the beach a great beach for kids.

Fires are not allowed, and neither are dogs.

Often in the heat of the day the "Fudgie-Wudgie guy" rolls his Good Humor cart past to sell the sun-baked tourists a cool refreshing treat.

Photographers will want to take your picture to put in a scope-viewer that you can purchase as a souvenir.

Dolphins frequently swim close to the beach--what a thrill!

Wildwood beach is a people-watchers paradise...big, small, old, young, and people of every color all enjoy the Wildwood beach!

Wildwood Boardwalk

I love this boardwalk, I've been coming here ever since I was a small child. It's a good feeling to bring your kids to a place where you used to go and ride on the same rides as you did when you were small. Not too many things have changed, besides the newer more safer rides.

We were talking to an attendant who was running a roller coaster about the safety of the rides. He said that they get inspected and tested every morning for safety precautions.

They have five large piers, each with different rides. Two of the piers which are owned and operated by the same people are Morey's Pier and Mariners Landing. They both have water parks on them and many other rides from kiddie rides like Merry-go-rounds to the scare Sea Serpent Roller Coaster with the twisting and turning and going upside down than again backwards!

They have a combination ticket price depending on the ages of your children to adult prices. They range from $18 - $25 and are good on both piers (Morey's pier and Mariners Landing)

The beach is very large in Wildwood, what we do instead of walking on the soft hot sand is walk down from the boardwalk on a pier, and that takes you closer to the ocean, and there are steps that take you down on the beach. It's much easier when you're lugging a stroller and a wagon filled with beach toys and chairs and a blanket!

We went the week after Labor Day so the crowds of people had already left, but the lifeguards were still on duty, and all the activities were still open.

It is so peaceful on the beach. Looking out at the ocean we saw about 30 or so Dolphins swimming by, and a few would jump out of the water now and then. It looked as if they were playing, tring to body-surf on the waves. They came very close to the swimmers that were in the ocean; I would have loved to been out there with them!

The kids will have a ball in the sand and surf. My son and I build sand castles. He brings down his Tonka toys to dig up the sand for me to build with. We like this beach because it is one of the few free beaches left in New Jersey. I like to make Sand Animals like Aligators, Snakes, and Turtles. Then my son will crush them when I am done. Some of the time when you look out at the water you can see Dolphins swim by.

Along the 2.5 mile boardwalk you'll find 5 different piers with food, games and rides. The two most popular piers are Morey's pier and Mariners Landing. Both piers have a water park and amusement rides. Combo tickets are around $35 for day and night. You can use them at either pier.
