Housing two galleries, the space is intimate. During our visit, we were lucky that the Dale Chiluly: the Seaforms exhibit had been extended. The show featured twenty glass sculptures and ten of Chiluly's drawings for the series. We waited for a class trip to clear out of the museum and then had the Chiluly show all to ourselves. It was a truly unique experience to be alone with all that beauty. Also on view was a sampling from the permanent collection.
I must remark on the exceptional friendliness of the staff there. A big switch from what I'm used to when visiting New York City museums and galleries. At the door we were greeted by a sweet older woman who offered us advice on where to eat and pushed complimentary postcards on us.
The Arts Center also houses a sculpture garden, botany trail and garden cafe open from May to Oct. The Arkell Pavilion hosts theatrical and musical productions. The Yester House houses ten remodeled galleries.
