1894 Coca-Cola Sign

  • November 7, 2000
  • Rated 3 of 5 by willow from Nicholls, Georgia
This Coca-Cola sign painted in 1894 on the side of Young Brothers Pharmacy, is believed to be the first outdoor advertisement for the well known soft drink. The sign appears to have been painted by an industrious soft drink salesman rather than a professional sign painter. It was discovered in 1988 under 25 layers of paint which required tedious stripping in order to expose and preserve the sign.
