Windansea Beach

Description

Windansea Beach is the most popular beach for local La Jollans. There is not much sand here, so the small patches of sand are quickly snapped up by sunbathers. Some people do their sunbathing on top of the rocks. The famous Polynesian-style Windansea shack has gone through several reincarnations, and is one of the most photographed structures in La Jolla.

This is not a swimming beach. Although some people swim here, most of the people in the water are surfers. These local, and hard-core, surfers are very protective of their waves, so you better know what you are doing. They won't tolerate novices, and will let you know in no uncertain terms.

How to get there: from the Village, go south on La Jolla Boulevard, turn right (west) on Nautilus St. to the end of the street.
