The guide that took us around was a volunteer that was on a summer break from Uni but he was really interesting. For example he explained how the normal butterfly life span was only one month but the Heliconius Butterfly knew to eat a certain plant to extend its life span to three months. Sounds like a good deal to me.
There is also a resident family of little turtles very cute but very timid. One moment they are there the next moment--splash--and they are gone.
It's a nice way to fill in a morning but make sure you have LOADS of repellant on as it is damp and the mosquitos breed prolifically.
