Recommended by many Irish friends, we found this peninsula surprisingly unfriendly when we tried to find some pub food for lunchtime. More than one conversation stopped as we walked into pubs, and we were pointedly informed ‘the season’s ended’. We managed to get freshmade sandwiches at ‘The Hooker’ just after you turn off to Lettermore, and in spite of assurance from one friend that the landlady was ‘touched’, we only found her slightly eccentric.
