Ford Mansion

This magnificant Georgian style mansion was built in the late 1700's. Mrs. Jacob Ford Jr., a young widow and her four children resided in this grand home. Through the hospitality of Mrs. Ford, General Washington resided in this home for the winter of 1779-1780. This home became General Washington's military headquarters during that time. The Ford family lived out of 2 rooms while General Washington and his staff remained in the home. In addition to General Washington, there were also his Aides-de-Camp and a number of servants.
This mansion is not only a wonderful example of period architecture, it also allows you to imagine yourself as a part of America's history. Young and old alike can relate to the plight of the Ford family and also imagine being witness to the military decision making process. This is well worth a visit.
The Ford Mansion is open daily. Tours are given hourly at 10:00 a. m., 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p. m., 2:00 p. m., 3:00 p. m. and 4:00 p. m.
