Rawlings home and what's left of her orange grove at Cross Creek is open to the public. The cracker style house is still furnished with many of her possessions. First editions of her books as well as the Pulitzer Prize for the 'Yearling' are as Rawlings left them. The movie set for 'Cross Creek' is in the near vicinity. If you are a fan of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings or if you wish to gain insight into the history of the Florida backwoods, this is a must see. Many of the characters and families about whom Rawlings wrote still live at the creek. Everytime I tour this home, I feel as though I've come to pay Marjorie a visit.
