There is a spectacular blow hole near the Hotel, but we made friends with some local who own a beach hut on the beach about a mile from the hotel that is run by the local village elders. We had complete privacy and we had the joy of fresh food from the village.
The village is mainly a fishing village, but these days they add to their earning by helping tourists, so don't be afraid to tip a little as they live on as little as a dollar a day. The people there were very friendly and the young kids, mainly girls as the boys were at sea, were selling shells. They sold them for a few cents, but make sure you haggle with them, otherwise you will be harming them when it comes to trading later in life.
The beach is also rumoured to have been the location for the old Bounty Bar adds.
