Growing every year since 1979, Eumundi Markets have been providing Queenslanders and her visitors with quality handmade goods sold directly by the artisan.
The 200-plus stalls and permanent shops provide an unequalled opportunity to find that something special. Situated from under the Moreton Bay Fig trees lining the main street north through to the old railway station, Eumundi Markets operate every Wednesday and Saturday morning until 1pm.
As the items are sold directly to the public, you are able to talk to the artists and discuss his/her inspiration and motivation for their art. You are also able to discuss possible bespoke commissions or variations to displayed items. The other advantage is, of course, the price and possibility of bartering.
We purchased a Kookaburra manufactured from rusty corrugated iron; these two things (for me) being the trademark of rural Australia.
Apart from the craft items for sale, there are also food and drinks, jewellery, toys, clothing, leather goods, plants, and even massages available!
