The San Jacinto Monument is the world's tallest memorial tower. Taller than the Washington Monument. It has a star atop it for the State of Texas! The monument has seashells embeded in it from the way it was made. The story of the battle for the independence of Texas is carved on all sides of the monument. Inside there is a very informative museum exhibit of that history. You can view a movie and ride to the 489 foot observation deck for a fee.
