Since I was staying in the new town, I found the best - and quickest - way to get around was by bicycle. You can rent a bike at various locations in the old town and then ride along La Concha or the bicycle paths that line the canal. I was able to take my bike on the funicular train (which required that I carry it up a few steps) and enjoy the ride down Monte Igueldo. The hotel was very kind about letting me store the bicycle overnight, but I also locked it outside one night and it was still there in the morning. For more information about biking in San Sebastian, check at the tourist office.
