Just across the river from the city centre, in 3 old half-timbered houses, run together. The museum houses the usual assortment of farming implements, household and kitchen goods, furniture and costumes, but they are beautifully displayed, and the houses alone are well worth the visit. The layout is superb; you are taken round in a logical way that ensures you miss nothing, but without forcing you to go anywhere you don’t want to. There are lots of naïve peasant paintings, a room full of carved wooden masks, used for funnelling grain in mills, charming peasant furniture painted with flowers and portraits, and mementoes of the catholic, protestant and Jewish commmunities of Alsace.
