Quimper Cathedral and around

This is a really outstanding Gothic cathedral which, to my mind, ranks alongside the better-known cathedrals of Chartres, Rheims and Rouen. It is made from local granite and was started in the first half of the 13th century, though building was only completed in the 16th. The large stained-glass windows date from the 15th century. From outside the most striking feature is the two identical towers crowned by high spires and pinnacles.
The area around reeks of history as well with its half-timbered houses.
