Had an outrageous dinner at the Spur Steakhouse at Cooper Spur Mt. Resort during the WINEMAKER DINNER. Chef Mik really knows how to blend a menu to match the taste of fine wines (from Pheasant Valley Winery). Get this:

•Lobster & Morel Newberg vol au vent
•Cream of mushroom soup
•Cherry smoked duck breast with new potatoes and whiskey glazed shitakes
•Fresh wild salmon dusted with chanterelles and saffron basmati rice
•Pears flambé (with pear wine)

Each course was served with a delicous wine - the whole evening was relaxing and enjoyable. The next one is May 20, for $65 per person (includes the wine flights and a souvenir wine glass).

Mt Hood Meadows is a great ski area. They get some good snow for being in the Northwest, and Heather Canyon is an excellent Experts only area with good terrain! There are great views of Mt Hood from the Cascade Express quad, and in the spring you can ride the SuperBowl snowcat from the top of the Cascade Express chair. This gains you another 1700 feet of vertical that feeds into the Heather Canyon area. This may make it sound like Meadows is just a playground for extreme skiers, but they have a huge amount of beginner and intermediate terrain too.

If you're in the area for New Years Eve without a party to ring in the New Year, there is a great New Years Eve party at Meadows, complete with fireworks, a torchlight parade, and lifts that stay open until 1am for the occasion!
