Ketal Supermarket versus local markets

Back in 1991 when I arrived, there was only one supermarket, Ketal. Normally, you bought cheese at one place, meat at another, bread at another, etc. Things have improved greatly! Now, there are several supermarkets here. We got fast food a couple of years ago, too! There is the local markets, however, and I really reccommend them. On Tuesdays, they are in Irpavi, Wednesdays, they are near the American church on 10th, on Fridays they are at the end of San Miguel. You need to haggle to get good prices, but you can really choose what you want and the quality you need. The supermarkets package everything up and usually add some bad ones that are turned so you can´t see them. That´s not even counting the prices that the supermarkets will charge you! You need to take some big bags - don´t worry, they sell them there, too. If you want eggs, you should buy your first ones in the supermarket and then use the container to buy them in the market. Fish is sold in these markets, but not meat. Find one you like and stick with her. You´ll pick out your fish and then they´ll ask if you want them to fillet them for you. I´d advise it! Diapers are cheaper there, too. Oh! And the earlier you go, the fresher these things are. They set up late the day before and then that stuff just sits there. I need to go for now, but I´ll definately include more market tips at a later date. I haven´t even begun with El Alto yet! ¡Provecho! T
