The Texas State Aquarium is a wonderful place for a family outing. You and your family will learn loads with the wonderful displays and information. If you enjoy shows, you will be happy to know that they have a wonderful Dolphin Show that lasts about 30 to 45 minutes. It's very exciting, but I recommend seating about 30 minutes early as they get crowded quickly. Some of their other displays include: Otters, jellyfish, Amazon life, Big Fish, Children's petting tank, Sea turtles, Dolphins, Sharks and rays, and so much more! There are food vendors on site as well as gift shops. A short stroll down the sidewalk and you will find yourself at the USS Lexington which I also suggest visiting.

I saw a flyer for this aquarium at a travel center and saw that there was a dolphin on their flyer. Immediately I knew I wanted to go there while we were staying in San Antonio. I have a deep love for dolphins and had been unable to see them in real life, so for me this was a MUST.

We drove down there, and once we got there, they told us that the dolphin shows were closed for the next2 to 3 weeks. I burst into tears because that was the MAIN reason I wanted to go. But we decided to go ahead and do it anyway.

It was a wonderful aquarium, even without being able to see my dolphins. We enjoyed every bit of this aquarium and will go back down there again someday, hopefully when the dolphin exhibits are open again.

I was able to peek at the dolphins from a short distance at least, so that helped a bit in my pain of it all.

A short and scenic stroll from the USS Lexington Museum is Corpus Christi's most popular attraction. The aquarium is located on 7.3 acres on Corpus Christi Beach; they have had over 5 million visitors since opening in 1990. They are open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Adult admission is $9 and parking is $3. (Unless you walk, like we did!) Visit their website at
