Ship Island
Ship Island is a favorite get-away for the nature lover and the history buff. Warm tidal pools, wind shaped sand dunes crowned with sea oats, make up the finest beach on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Tranquil stretches of barrier island shore invites you to explore, picnic or hike. Atlantic bottlenosed dolphins swam beside the ferry as we went toward the protected island. A snack bar is available with limited products, so I advise bringing your own picnic. There are pavilions, shower and restrooms. Beach chair and umbrellas can be rented as well. 1/3 mile boardwalk to beach
