Nightcap National Park

Minyon Falls is a wonderful place for a drive and a relaxing picnic lunch. It has an awesome 100-m waterfall, which provides a great start to the 30-km Whian Whian Forest Drive. The road is a bit rocky, so don't bring your luxury automobile.

This scenic route takes in areas of Nightcap National Park and nearby State forest. It also passes Rummery Park, a great picnicking and camping spot in a section of the State forest. There are many sections of rainforest on the drive, and you can see remnants of the original forests that once covered much of the north-east of NSW.

We really enjoyed seeing the koalas, pademelons, and lyrebirds. Swimming is not permitted because it is the habitat of the endangered Fleay's barred frog.

There are also a variety of walks through the preserve. Electric barbecues are provided at Mount Nardi. Keep in mind that no fires are permitted in the park, but portable fuel stoves are acceptable. Plan to spend the whole day!
