By the end of 2002 the museum started to participate in a wonderful exhibit sharing program put together in cooperation with the Smithsonian Institute. At that time, the museum expanded from just 3,800 sq. ft. to more than 40,000 sq. ft.!!! It now boasts a library and archives, 4,500 sq. ft. temporary traveling exhibit gallery, 3 permanent exhibit galleries, and more! I revisited the museum for the first time in several years in 2005 and hardly recognized the place! Sure, the General is still there, but much, much more as well! I especially enjoyed the exhibits on manufacturing in Marietta. Budget at least a couple of hours for your visit.
In addition to the regular exhibits, visitors will find a variety of public activities and festivals held around the museum. Check separate festivals entry for details.
