The Church of Santa Clara is considered the best example of Portuguese Baroque in Portugal. The Romanesque windows are laid out with Baroque floral designs, and underneath them each chapel is screaming Portuguese Baroque with statues of various saints in the middle and gilded woodcarvings all around. On the corners by the entrance you can see two small organs with crowns on top. The ceiling hasn’t been spared of the baroque décor either. Most of the decorations were done in the 18th century and the most important carvings are by Miguel Francisco Da Silva who owes his fame to this church for starting his successful career as one of the most important artists of Portuguese Baroque in Porto. Behind the cage in the back, you can see sacristy and cloisters with walls covered in beautiful azulejos
