Description: This is a small but beautiful downtown park. It is dedicated to the people that made their mark on the thoroughbred industry in Kentucky. At the corner of the park is a spectacular garden of red roses that stay in bloom from late spring through the summer. Turn to the right and you will see magnificent life-sized bronze sculptures of horses crossing a finish line with a waterfall backdrop. Behind the wall of the fountain the park is mounded in a hill that is landscaped with trees and of course sown with bluegrass that is indigenous to the area. There are the several bronze sculptures of mother horses and their offspring frolicking on the rises. Throughout the park are plaques honoring people in the Bluegrass area that worked in the horse industry through history. Each bronze plaque honors one person and has a picture and historical information on the person and their contribution to the industry.
When the weather is nice you will see townspeople stopping at the park for a stroll or just to sit and take in the beauty of the park. You will also catch tourists stopping to snap pictures of the beautiful bronze statues.
