I started out in early morning, which added an element of pleasing magnificence - getting out there before anyone had touched the trail for the day, feeling like the first to ever encounter such a scene. The chilly start with humid breath, sweaty backs post-km 1, moving up and up and up, then turning onto the steeper trail off the old fire road. More up and up and up but I was loving every second. The sun was streaking through clouds (this was the only cloudy day while we were there), cautiously selecting a few fortunate trees to kiss, an opening ahead. The view. But there's more. Keep walking up and over and up. . . the view. Nope, bald hills, keep moving. . . The view, the view, the view! In every direction, a camera could never capture its entirety, the gift, the feeling. I AM HERE NOW. . . I was there then. . . I am there now. . .
