The Perfect Free Tourist Stop!

I had the most fun at this Brewery! We walked in after finding two other area breweries closed on a Tuesday afternoon, and the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. They gave us tickets for an hour and half long tour and invited us to go visit the Clydesdales on our own until the next tour departed in about 20 minutes.

*The standard tour is free - you can upgrade to premium for a cost, and they'll give a more in-depth tour with beer samples at every turn, but we were a bit more time-crunched.*

First, the Clydesdales were breathtaking! They are much larger than you could ever imagine, and some of them have loads of personality. They keep 6 in-house, and others are trained to go on the road. Wheeler is located in Fort Collins, and he's a bit of a celebrity - he was in the snowball fight commercial!

After the barn, they take you through the brew house. The videos are cheesy, but our guide was very knowledgable. The machinery is huge and very cool to see.

At the end of the tour you can go to the bar and show your ID to get two full samples of your choice. They must depend on you picking up a case or some souvenirs at the gift shop, because for the tour and the samples (and as much time as you want in the barn with the horses) you don't have to pay a dime!

Anheuser-Busch Brewery

This beautiful facility is undergoing an expansion right now to increase productivity of the brewery. But the current goings-on don't detract from a very interesting and fun tour you can take (for free) that shows you inside the brewery and teaches you all about beer-making, the Anheuser-Busch way. Ever wondered what "beechwood aged" means? Now's your chance to find out. The brewery is immaculate and the tour guides friendly and knowledgeable. You also get the chance to see the Clydesdales and on the 1st Saturday of each month, they hitch up one of the horses and you can have your picture taken with him (or her!). After the tour you can have your choice of two beer samples in their "bar". (Under 21 do not get served.) You can also take a walking tour that is unguided, but take the guided tour, it's a lot better and only lasts about an hour and 15 minutes.
