For sit-down dining, the Charcuterie features local produce with a French twist. Or take it up a notch and indulge at the upmarket Ralph’s Bistro. Just off the square is the popular local watering hole, the Bear Republic. Brewmaster Rich Norgrove produces an exceptional range of quality beer here, complemented by a hearty menu.
Despite the highlights, a travesty in form of a hideous three-story hotel has emerged on the western edge, destroying a grassy area where children played and blocking the sunset from bathing the square in golden light. Locals tried to fight development but were overruled.
So when you visit, I implore you to boycott the hotel and instead stay in a cosy B&B.
