Sentiero attrezzato Durissini

Following sentiero Bonacossa, route 117, I finally reached Rif. Fondasavio after a long day hiking.

It was a good time to be there and I didn't need the reservation for the night because the end of June is a good time, there's not much people hiking yet.

I found that place so nice, romantic and magic and I thought, why not stay one day more?

And so I did. I planned to hike around Cadini, this enchanting mountain, and come back to the same shelter but following a wonderful variant called Sentiero Durissini, route number 112B.

I spent the evening singing like an "old bell" with other 23 people in the shelter, they were from Italy, Germany, Netherlands, USA and France...the most crazy group of singers all over the world, I guess, but this was one of the most funny events in my life!

In the morning I started hiking on route 112 b and the beginning was already somehow difficult with some parts to hike keeping in balance on metal cords, but it was also exiting.

The first goal to reach was Forcella della Torre Wenter (2400 mt), than down to Cadin Deserto and hiking on stairs and metal cords I reached Forcella Sabbiosa(2440 mt).

From here crossing some small briges (built with wood and iron)I found Forcella Cadin Deserto (2400 mt) and than Forcella Cristina (2390 mt) and here I had the first break.

Reading Grohmann's guide I found out that they called this pass Cristina to honour the man that built this route, giving it the name of the daughter borned the day they the finished to build.

After 20 minutes of rest I decided to start and crossing Cadin delle Père I reached Forcella Verzi (2650 mt)and here the view is terrific. Hiking about 20 minutes I've been on Forcella del Nevaio (2624 mt) and than finally I reached again Rif. Fondasavio crossing a small glacier...and there was waiting for me a big big plate of PASTA!!!!

I guess that this trip impress me for life. I will never forget all the emotions I felt there. The sensation to be very small in front of such a great nature but at the same time the sensation to be myself.

< This is what I love doing hiking, no matter who I am in the daily life, rich or poor, important or not, famous or unknown, there I can be just myself and find values that often I forgot fighting to survive in this world.

I suggest to start from Rif.Auronzo. 2320 mt high,on foots of the symbol of Dolomites, Tre Cime di Lavaredo. From there following route 117 you will cross Forcella Rimbianco( 2176 mt) and hiking around Moutain Cianpedele and than Torre Wundt, you will reach Rif. Fondasavio (2350 mt). I suggest to have a break there, eat something ( be careful to the crowds, they tried all the time to eat my sanwich!!!) and enjoy the view on Cadini di Misurina. When you're ready, continue to follow route 117 and reach Forcella del Diavolo (2380 mt), than Forcella Misurina (2400 mt)and finally the last shelter, Rif. Col de Varda(2115 mt). The only bad thing here is that this shelter is on the other side of Misurina, this can cause some problems. I did the trip with some friends so we left one car in Misurina the day before to start,so two of us at the end of the trip went back to Rifugio Auronzo to take the other cars. I don't know if there is a bus moving from Misurina to R. Auronzo, anyway ask to the local Info Office.

I wish to every hiker to go there and take a look on those wonderful mountains, not just with eyes, but with the heart.

Many famous Italian writers wrote legends, fairy tales and poetry about Cadini di Misurina andthe name of every single tower has a special meaning. In the local library you will find everything about this subject.

When I've been there watching them I felt the magic atmosphere of this strange place. I found this trip breath taking, unique!!!
