Pacific Shores is a five minute drive from the town of Parksville. They have a beach there that is famous for sandcastle building, though we didn't find time to do that. We did go to Parksville for some miniature golf, which was great.

At the resort itself we took advantage of the playground every day, and on the sunny days, the outdoor kid's pool (with slide) kept our kids entertained. On the rainy days, we took advantage of the indoor pool, which includes a separate lane for swimming laps.

The highlight was walking the trail down to the beach with the kids and investigating tidepools and the stacked rock formations. My two-year-old had a GREAT time with that.

Also, there is lots of grass to picnic on, or just run around. Unfortunately, their Bocce/lawn-bowling court wasn't open yet for spring as the ground was too soft, apparently.
