It's big and beautiful and oh-so-Swedish. Sure, it's no Prado or Louvre, but rather one of many great museums to check out in Stockholm. It's a sight to see and a look into Swedish culture you should definately take advantage of. Right now runs a comprehensive exhibit on Swedish folk art.

The building itself is beautiful. However, this museum of Nordic culture and history was a bit disappointing to me. We did not find any tour guides throughout the museum and no English translations were available. My Swedish friends were quickly tired of trying to translate for me.

There were a few interesting exhibits that recreated the originally settlers (the Sami) homes. But there were also strange exhibits, such as food and utensils from today, different types of chairs, or a sports heroes exhibit which consisted of piles of sports memorabilia. Although it was not a terrible experience, I would recommend that you spend your time more wisely at one of the other places I've written about.
