Open Monday 2 to 5pm and Tueday to Sunday 10am to 5pm

This museum may get a little boring after a while for the kids. When I went, the top floor was closed because they were not yet finished with the new installation: mountain and travel photos from 1860 to the present. It is now open and will be there until October 2005. It sounds pretty neat.

On the first floor there are lots of models of the Alps, information on rock types, some animals, etc. The second floor contains more information about the culture of the Alpine people, with costumes, equipment, etc. This is pretty interesting. There are also a few interactive exhibits, which are always fun for the kids. In a room on the far end of this floor is an exhibit about mountain-climbing, with some paintings of fallen men. This focuses on those who have dared to climb the Matterhorn.

All in all, it is a pretty cool museum, but one you might want to check out without the kids.
