As soon as you turn into the grounds off the busy road, it is like entering another world, historic and rural. between the gate and the house, not a long distance, there is a fine pond with numerous ducks and right by the carpark there is a wonderful old barn.
There was a house here in the 16th century but most of what you see comes from the following century. There is a ghost somewhere!
Of more substantial sights hte tapestries are really top class and much of the furniture can only be described as a treat.
The gardens are very beautiful and include a number of less usual apples and masses of herbs. There is a very pleasant tea room and restaurant.
