We started out around 6:45am. We went almost beyond the sight of land. It was a great ride, though. On the way out you see the sea lions and watch the sunrise. Just the view of the rock formations from the water was beautiful.

Being there at the end of January was a bonus for us, as we got to see a couple of whales on the way out to get the marlin. There were also plenty of dolphins to be seen.

UNEXPERIENCED?
For anyone who has never fished like this, there is nothing for you to do until you hear that magical, "zzzzzing!" and then, "WooHOOOO, FISH ON!!" After that, just follow the guy in charge of the back of the boat. He will show you what to do. It is exhilarating just to be on the boat when this happens. Imagine the feeling when you get the pole in your hands!!

We got a 130-pound stripped marlin and another stripped marlin over 190 pounds.

It was awesome to see a fish leap out of the water and fight you. It took me and my husband only 45 minutes to bring in a 9 foot 281 pound fish. It was one of the most exciting fishing trips I have ever been on.

This is an incredible experience. Something about bobbing around out on the Pacific in January in shorts and swimsuits that is unbeatable. We fished with the Adriana from the Pisces fleet, and were thoroughly delighted with the crew. They were very helpful, spoke very passable English, and were a lot of fun!
