Lover's Beach

The most breathtaking beach on the whole Baja Peninsula, located where the bay meets the Pacific and causes great waves and beautiful diving. Beautiful people, great resorts, fine dining, and a great nightlife, with shopping to boot!

Lovers Beach is only accessible by boat. It's a great spot to go snorkeling and to explore the rock formations -- you can go from the Sea of Cortez to the Pacific Ocean. Only snorkel on the Sea of Cortez side; the Pacific Ocean is very rough and not recommended to swim or snorkel, but it’s beautiful to see. There are locals selling their wares and also drinks and snacks. Boat taxis are abundant to take you and pick you up for a small fee.

Lover's Beach/Divorce Beach

If you do nothing else in Cabo you must take a water taxi to Lover's Beach. For a few extra dollars they will take you to the Arch and also to see the sea lions. Lover's Beach (Sea of Cortez) is beautiful - calm and great for swimming. Just a few feet away on the pacific side is Divorce Beach. It is wild and rough with crashing waves.

One side of the beach is named Lover's Beach because the waves are very calm and relaxing. On the other side of the beach, the waves are just the opposite. These waves are large and ferocious, which explains the name, Divorce Beach. You need to take a boat to get there. There's not much to do, except enjoy the magnitude of the waves, lie in the sun, snorkel, and pick up some nice shells. The boats come every hour or so . . . you simply get on one of the boats when you are ready to leave. THERE IS NO PROTECTION FROM THE SUN, SO COME PREPARED!!!

It can get quite crowded, so you may want to ask one of the guides or your hotel activities coordinator when the beach would be less populated.

Lover's Beach

To get to Lover's Beach you will have to take a water taxi to get there. Depending on the weather the ride can be slightly bumpy and when you arrive at the beach you will have to jump into shallow water from the boat to walk to the beach. This is a good area for snorkeling if the water is calm. (The dive boats take you to the rocks just offshore for a great variety of sealife.) We went in the first week of September and the beach was largely exposed. From the point where you reach the beach you will have a short hike to around the rock to get to the beach under the arch. If the water is rough, I HIGHLY recommend you watch where the waves are landing before going around the back side of the rock. We were almost sucked into the ocean when a huge wave crushed us against the rocks unexpectedly and tried to pull us in. We had to time the waves and then run between them to get there. It is worth it! A very romantic site (my boyfriend tried to propose to me several times there but was unsuccessful due to family interruptions!). Great rock formations and caves. There are a lot of seals sunning themselves on rocks. You will have vendors selling beer (at a premium)! This was the most memorable site for us.
