Bahia Chileno

A quiet beach used by locals and tourists. It was not crowded at all. Good snorkeling right off shore among the many reefs. Go to the right as you face the ocean, over the bluff to the right of shack. Avoid the expense of snorkel trip from town with its time limitations and restrictions if you can get to beach on your own--car, bus, or cab.

This is the public beach, so all the locals are here. Families come on week-ends. There are mangos on a stick, coconuts they will cut and you can drink from the shell, and other native foods. The water was icy cold. There is shade up above the sand with some sparse coconut trees, but no umbrellas unless you have brought your own. A huge Mayan-looking statue erupts from the white sand to greet you.

We felt uncomfortable and sticky miserable hot.
