The wind palace is located in the busiest street of Jaipur. It is no more than a façade. There is nothing more to visit but it is really beautiful. You can make a walk along the street to get an impression of real Indian life and in the meanwhile you can admire the nice Wind palace.

This is the most photographed building in Jaypur. It is the remaining front of the palace, where the ladies of the court would sit in privacy and observe the goings-on in the street while being cooled by the constant breezes. Not far from here is an 18th century outdoor astronomical observatory (the Jantar Mantar), built by one of the highly educated Maharajas. It is built of stone and incredibly accurate. Also nearby you can visit the City Palace, still a royal residence but partly open to the public. There are incredible collections of textiles, jewelry, porcelain and many other items.

At the centre of the old city, this is an amazing building. It's made of carved pink stone, like much of old Jaipur, and is decorated to within an inch of its life! The clever facade, designed to allow winds through but not to allow the people to see the Royal Ladies within, makes the building cool, which is lovely in the summer. There isn't much left now apart from the front, but do go and see it anyway.
