Spoorwegmuseum (Dutch RR Museum)

This is a great place for train buffs of all ages. There are lots of train cars to look at as well as models, paintings & videos. The gift shop has good quality souvenirs in many price ranges. Check out the red garbage cans in front of the museum with the train logos on them.

The museum is outside of the city centre, in a 19th century rail terminal but it's a pleasant walk through a little park and lots of tree lined streets. There is also a bus from the city core. Cost is DF 15 for adults.

Railway Museum

The Railway Museum is currently being renovated. It will reopen June 5, 2005.

In the beautiful setting of an old train station is the Dutch National Railway Mmuseum (Spoorwegmuseum). It is located on the eastern side of the historic centre of Utrecht. Only a 20 minutes walk from the Central train station. The museum has a large collection of steam trains, diesel- and electric trains. But the steam collection is the nicest.

Costs for adults are Euro 12,50,- children Euro 9,50. With a museum card entrance is free.
