Vaimahutu Waterfall

This waterfall is one of three that make up the 'Cascades de Faarumi' on the north of the island. The road leading up to the waterfalls is just off the main ring road on the island, with the turnoff a few hundred yards from the blowholes.

It's about 3/4-mile up the track from the main road, and the track is a little bit bumpy, to say the least! At the top is a parking and picnic area, and from here it is only a short 5-minute walk up to the Vaimahuta Waterfall. Tahiti itself has many waterfalls, but this is one of the most accessible on the island and is therefore found on a number of the island tours. For the more energetic, there's the option of walking another 30 minutes or so to the Haamaremare and Haamaremare Iti waterfalls, as well.

The waterfall is in a beautiful setting and is well worth a visit if you have the opportunity.
