Aquablue

For somebody who hasn't even snorkeled, let alone scuba-dived, the idea of walking underwater with a full diving helmet on was pretty daunting and exciting at the same time.

The Aquablue tours are based at the watersports centre at the Intercontinental Hotel in Moorea. The tours last a couple of hours. We were taken by boat to a reef area about 20 minutes away with the most beautiful turquoise blue water. After a comprehensive instruction and safety session, you are able to to walk down the ladder and into the water and fitted with a full diving helmet.

During our walk, the crew were with us underwater, pointing out the various fish and sealife. They also brought food with them to attract the local underwater population! During our session, we were able to see (and touch) a number of stingrays and tropical fish. We even saw a large moray eel during our dive.

Definitely a recommended trip, especially for underwater novices like myself. The crew was great and made the whole experience a pleasure.
