One of the greatest things for thrill-seekers to do in Queenstown is bungee jumping. The ledge is one of three places to jump. You use a waist harness so that you can take a running start and jump off the ledge, which is off the side of a mountain. It's not the highest or longest jump of the three, but it is a must-do. It is also the closest, located right in the town. Take the gondola ride to the top of the mountain. The scenery from up there is amazing. Many postcard pictures were taken from up there.

After having sworn never to bungy jump again in my life, it can as something of a surprise to me to find my self harnessed up and dangling 400 meters above Queenstown just one day later. To this day I don’t know what came into me but I, perhaps the gentle Gondala ride to the top of the hill had temporary lulled my inate fear of heights, perhaps my brain functions were still running slow from the previous night's drinking session or perhaps I had finally become an adrenaline junkie. Either way I found myself handing over my bucks to experience The Ledge’s unique contribution to the world of Bungy, a little contraption it referred to as "The Swing".
Harnessed up and winched out over the ledge on the end of a bungy cord the victim is then expected to pull a parachute style rip cord to be dropped the 47m with the additional excitement of as well as bouncing up and down you will also be swinging backwards and forwards, just to make sure your stomach contents are fully churned. And yet somehow I found this an infinitely more pleasant experience, my fear of falling perhaps conquered the previous day. The addition of a third dimension adds greatly to the experience and the view over Queenstown is spectacular, you are given plenty of time to soak it up as you are winched back up.
I can’t help feeling that I had perhaps let my heart-rending fear spoil my enjoyment of the wonderful world of Bungy on my previous experience, but now it is something that I very much look forward to trying again.
