Description: The Mauritshuis is near The Hague Central Station. With a bit of speed you're really there in 5 minutes. You can also take the tram. The nice thing about Maurtishuis has to be the location. It is situated at the Binnenhof. The Hague Historical Museum and the Museum are nearby. These museums are so very well together to combine. Is certainly a must for a day in The Hague.
Accessibility
The museum is very accessible for disabled people. There is an elevator in the museum where you can travel between the floors. It is also possible in the museum to hire a wheelchair.
Building
The building is conveniently located between several other museums. The building is an old city palace which is clearly noticeable in the layout. It's a little square building. The floors are all organized the same way. In the middle is a square hall with all rooms surrounded by interconnected. Furthermore, in the hall is a huge, wide staircase leading to the next or previous level. All this gives the atmosphere a bit royal feeling. On the website of the museum I read that the house was of Count Johan Maurits van Nassau-Siegen was designed by renowned architect Jacob van Campen.
Collection
The Maurtitshuis uses two collections. One collection consists of the permanent collection. It consists of very famous paintings. Many young people will recognize the history paintings, at least I do. With the audio tour you are giving much information about the various paintings. Very nice because you really going to see the paintings that were otherwise not noticed. There is also always a changing collection. The changing collection is often paintings made by famous painters and interesting subjects. For art lovers there is plenty to see in this museum.
Conclusion
Personally, I am really excited about the Mauritshuis. The museum has a very nice solid collection. Even if you repeatedly in the museum will remain fun. Fun is the very famous paintings such as The Girl with a Pearl Earring and The autonomic lesson. Also on the temporary exhibitions, I am very excited. A temporary exhibition rooms full of art that I visited was definitely worth it. Beautiful paintings so you really get more insight into the painting. Moreover, the comments provided through the audio tour is also very insightful about the development of painting and various artists. All in all, this museum is definitely worth it!
