Kringlan Shopping Centre

Kringlan Shopping Centre is the only major shopping mall in Reykjavik and a short distance away from the city centre. We could have walked for about 20 minutes to the mall from our hotel if it weren’t for the cold weather.

Because it was near Christmas, most of the shops were open until 9pm, which was great for us. There are two supermarkets there where you can buy local delicacies (such as caviar). There is also the Islandia shop where local arts and crafts and souvenirs are available. When we were there on the Sunday before Christmas, it was crowded with shoppers, which added to the hustle and bustle of the place.
