This is my favorite place to visit in Wichita during the spring and early summer. Of course you may visit all year and see fall flowers, the winter brings blooms from the sun rooms. Botanica is an oasis of beauty and serenity where you can just walk slowly through the many exotic and native flowers housed in a collection of gardens. You may experience the Butterfly Garden where thousands of butterflies, of many different kinds, float breathlessly in mid-air. Or visit the Rose Garden and breath in the pungent aroma of the most lovely roses in the world. Feed the Koi fish at the Water Garden and watch the frogs leap from lily pad to lily pad. The Wildflower and Cactus Gardens are unique and different from anything else in the museum. Botanica is so beautiful, you may see a bride under a tree posing for her wedding photos or even witness a wedding ceremony on the grass. Whenever you go the $6 admission price is well worth it, just to see and smell the flowers and herbs. And for an even more special day, bring a picnic and eat your lunch in the botanical surroundings at the many tables provided.
