Irving Nature Park is situated just on the outskirts of Saint John. The walking trails are named after the wildlife you are likely to see. The squirrel trail and the chipmunk trail are the most popular. The trails are covered with soft woodchip and so are easy on the joints when walking or jogging. There are some lovely white-sand beaches here, as well as the more traditional wood-covered forest trails.

This is a popular spot for bird-watching, and over 250 species have been spotted here, including cormorants, the black-capped chickadee (New Brunswick's provincial bird), tree swallows, loons, great blue herons, sandpipers, geese, black ducks, and many more. The views over the Bay of Fundy are spectacular, and I would well recommend a visit here, even if you aren't into walking.

The Irving Nature Park is amazing!! You can go through the various trails yourself. If you are not into walking or hiking, there is also a road that you can drive through the park on. There are maps and guides throughout the area. Or you can join in on one of their various planned tours (they have butterfly tours, excursions in the evening, etc.). You would need to contact the park to find out about the organized tour times and availability as they do vary.

It is the most beautiful, scenic location that you would ever see. It is full of different trails for anyone, from the beginner to the fitness buffs. The rest stops are clean and free from noise. There are beautiful patio-type areas that give an awesome view of the scenery and where you can take a romantic adventure to watch the sun set or rise.

It's like a breath of fresh air. There are so many things to see from seal watching to seeing the local wildlife. There are also so many beaches to explore.

The Irving Nature Park is located about 15 minutes west of downtown Saint John. The park was suggested to us by one of the staff of the Inn that we were staying at as a great place to bring Bailey, our dog, for a walk. The 600-acre park is located on a peninsula on the Bay of Fundy coast. It has about a half dozen walking trails of various lengths and difficulties, ranging from 25 minutes to 2.5 hours. The park offers some spectacular views of the bay as well as some very diverse terrain and an abundance of wildlife. We were lucky enough to spot some seals sunning on some rocks. I would recommend this park regardless of whether you bring your pet along with you or not.
