Romerberg Market Square

If you only have a day in Frankfurt, you might want to start in the beautiful Romerberg Market Square. Here you'll find the Romer, an old house on the west side of the Square. Since 1405, this house has combined w/ other houses to form Frankfurt's City Hall. Opposite the Romer is Kaisersaal (Imperial Hall), a rather peculiar building that was built during the Thirty Years' War. Portraits of the German emperors hang in the hall. Take time to walk down the side streets surrounding the Square to see unique architecture & sculpture.
