Sagarmatha National Park

The trail which leads you to Everest Base Camp, takes anything between 12-24 days. i took 14 days, having flown directly to Lukla from Kathmandu, instead of trekking from sea level up to Lukla which would take about 7 days.

It wasn't easy. But the rewards you get - the view from up above the clouds, the exotic animals you see along the way, remnants of Nepalese culture, the chain of mountains enveloping you - are priceless. For me, what was most valuable was the opportunity to interact daily with my sherpas, who to me were the most knowledgeable people. To be brief, yet precise, I could say that they "had been there, seen it, and done that".

Accommodation was in tents which were cosy at night, and easy to pack up the following morning. Another good past time in the night is to share chocolates with your "buddy" while recollecting all the funny moments of the day.
