Touring Ruins

As one of the anticipated minor trips on our trip to Belize, we were extremely pleased with the tour of the Cahal Pech and Xunantunich Mayan ruins. In an all-day tour, we drove to these two locations and were very impressed with the experience.

Cahal Pech was an excellent introductory course to Mayan ruins, as it displayed several plazas and temples. Moving on to Xunantunich, we were amazed at the size (and power!) of the primary temple and plaza area with some relief work restored.

Although probably not the stature of Tikal, they were impressive and worth the ride. Both also had a small but excellent museum attached to the sites.
