Glenelg Beach

Glenelg Beach

Glenelg Beach is Adelaide's most popular and busiest beach. It is often lively, even during the off-season. However, it is hardly ever too crowded. There are several activities available, even if you don't feel like going in to the sea for a swim or hanging out by the shore.

Apart from the beautiful beach, there are several places to see including the shark museum and the heritage town hall. The marina is also a great place to hang out and eat. You can even book yourself a boat ride and dolphin watching session.

From the city, one good way to reach Glenelg is by taking the tram at Victoria Square.

I always enjoy visiting Glenelg, for its liveliness and fun atmosphere.

Beaches that go on for miles and miles in both directions, with clean, white, soft sand. The water is usually warm and very calm, too. It's not a fantastic surfing beach, but great for swimming and sunworshipping.

The tram from the City Centre drops you right at the beach, so its ideal and very convenient.

Glenelg is a highly developed beach. You take the tram there, and are deposited right beside the beach. There are many shops lining the road leading up to the beach (Jetty St). There are boats, loungers, and umbrellas for rent. The water is warm. There are very few waves, though, so surfing and boogie boarding is not a big activity - mostly swimming, wading, and sunning. There are hotels and rental units right along the beach and the Stamford Grand, which is just aside the tram stop and is well known for its large, scrumptious breakfasts.
