Description: To those of you who have never visited Montreal before, you will soon realize that les Montréalais have truly mastered the art of fine eating. Some people here do indeed do their shopping at traditional grocery stores, but many Montrealers I know prefer to spend their money at specialty shops; a chocolatier that sells only the finest in chocolate, a bûcherie with only the best quality meats, a fruiterie...you get the picture. Boulangerie Monsieur Pinchot about eight blocks east of métro Mont Royal was my place of choice to get superior breads and pastries.
You probably get the picture that everything at this cozy store (maybe 10 people could fit inside) was superlative. I would often come here for baguettes and almond paste-filled croissants. One of my good friends enjoyed their 'damiers,' a firm gingerbread-like cake shaped like a checkerboard. Pick anything though; I assure you, you won't go wrong.
The staff here is typically French-speaking, with knowledge of English varying from very little to quite good. Service is excellent as the employees are very knowledgeable and visibly proud of their boulangerie.
