Lac Bay

Lac Bay is another bizarre little facet of Bonaire which people usually don't check out. One more reason to visit, right? Lac Bay is on the windward side of the southern tip of the island, which means it gets incredibly heavy gusts. What's interesting, though, is that the entire bay, probably a few kilometers in diameter, is only a few feet deep. There is a reef growing at the mouth of the bay which holds off the wicked surf, making Lac one of the premiere windsurfing destinations in the Caribbean ocean! It's a crystal smooth plate of water, a mile across, with wicked winds, no scary fish to eat you, and you can always stand up if you need to! What else could you ask for?

Vising Lac is another must-do side-tour while on Bonaire, and it can be combined with some other dive sites along the way. Go wind surfing! There are a few rental shops in the vicinity.
